Hello, I am Carol Fox, LMFT. I have worked as an individual and family therapist since 1990. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a teacher in Florida and Cleveland, Ohio, teaching 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. When I moved to California, I became a school counselor, working in the Sacramento City School District. It was when the school district had to eliminate school counseling that I trained to become a mediator and custody evaluator. I have been working as a Family Court Mediator, or a court connected Custody Evaluator, working with Placer County and Sacramento Court since 2005, while maintaining my private therapy practice.
I am a mother of six children and 14 grandchildren, along with 4 step-grandchildren. This is where most of my education and insight comes from. My work as a therapist was guided through the challenges of being a parent, confronting the many challenges of raising children and learning along the way about family systems, family structure, and family “resets”. I earned my master’s in counseling through Sacramento State University in 1995 while raising my children. My family was guided by the ever-changing therapeutic work and training that I was doing at that time.
